Three of our students have won the district-wide speech competition and will be moving on to the Eastern Bay competition in August 2016.

Congratulations to Rico Taiako who won first prize in his section, speaking about a day in the life of his six-month-old brother, Iaveta Bruce (right) who won the intermediate section, speaking about how to tell if an animal needs counselling and the senior prize was taken home by Hannah Dodds, who spoke about the fact that the good old days weren’t really that good.

The competition was judged by Opotiki College principal Susan Impey, Opotiki district councillor Lyn Riesterer and Whakatane teacher Sue Smith.
